Bishop William Kenney recently visited Kenilworth to bless the offices of the Friends of the Holy Land and meet some of the national volunteer team.

During his visit he spoke with General Manager, Sean Higgins, about the work of the FHL, both in this country and in the Holy Land. Recent projects in and around the Bethlehem area include the setting up of a new candle factory, largely funded by the FHL. Sean confirmed that “this project was our first major contribution to growing the infrastructure in the area and providing future employment for a number of families. It would also manufacture candles that previously had only been available by importing them into Palestine”.

During this visit, Bishop William discussed with the volunteers their work to ensure the office was manned on a regular basis to manage the increasing number of enquiries from FHL Parish Groups around the country.

Peter Rand, FHL National Vice-Chairman, said “It was a very opportune time for Bishop William to visit the offices, with our first National Gathering of Friends due to take place at St. Francis of Assisi, Kenilworth on 19 November”.

Notes to Editor
About the Friends of the Holy Land
The Friends of the Holy Land (FHL) was established in England & Wales in 2009. It is a registered charity and assists the Christian Community in the Holy Land.

The objectives are to raise awareness of the difficulties they experience, to encourage prayers to be offered for their intentions, to generate and channel financial resources to provide them with a sustainable future and encourage visits to the Holy Land to meet with local Christians.

Financial support is provided to Parishes and Schools and families within the Christian Community to enable them to live a fruitful and rewarding life in their homeland.

This is all achieved with the backing and blessing of Anglican and Catholic Bishop’s in England & Wales. The FHL is non political.
