Bethlehem University, the first University established in the West Bank is a Catholic Christian higher education community run by the De La Salle Christian Brothers and open to students of all faith traditions. It provides higher level studies through the Faculties of Arts, Business, Education, Nursing and Science as well as the Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism and the Institute of Community Partnership. It has an annual enrolment of over 2500 students.
The Friends have established a Fund to build up the necessary US$35,000 to provide the investment for a permanent bursary for a student to study at the University. The Bursary will be known as “Friends of the Holy Land Bursary”. Once sufficient monies have been gathered for the first Bursary a second Bursary Fund will be opened so that, over time, a number of students who would not otherwise be able to continue their education will find a new opportunity at Bethlehem University.
It is important that there is a continuing educated professional Christian presence in the Holy Land.
Individuals or Parishes may wish to consider establishing such a Bursary named after their Parish or in memory of someone.
