The UK office team (Jen, Sue and Caroline) recently went to the Holy Land and spent some time seeing the amazing places as well as meeting our team in Bethlehem.

We were very fortunate to have the opportunity to visit many of the pilgrimage sights in Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Nazareth and the Sea of Galilee.

Sea of Galilee, Church of the Nativity (Bethlehem), Chuch of the Annunciation (Nazareth), Church of the Holy Sepulchre (Jerusalem)

While in Bethlehem the UK office team met with some of our family support beneficiaries. We were struck by their warm hospitality and welcome. They all expressed their gratitude for the work of FHL and how much our support helps. We also experienced the reality of Palestinian life as one lady spoke about having had no running water for the last 3 weeks with no warning!

We also met with Nancy and Reem, our office counterparts in Bethlehem. We chatted about how each of our offices operates and how we can support each other.

We had all heard people say that you never return from the Holy Land the same person; we can honestly say it was true for us. We all came away feeling very moved and spiritually blessed to have walked in the footsteps of Jesus. We were privileged to meet so many fabulous local people on our trip and experience the Palestinian hospitality - these people truly are the Living Stones, often living in difficult circumstances but unwavering in their faith and the feeling that they are honoured to continue the tradition of Christianity in the land of our Lord. We would thoroughly recommend the experience to anyone who hasn't yet visited.
