Westminster parishioner John Scanlan, raised a staggering £6,000 in just one weekend for Christian charity the ‘Friends of the Holy Land’.

Last November FHL trustee Peer Rand made one of his regular trips to the West Bank to catch up with FHL staff, volunteers and beneficiaries. Whilst there FHL’s Bethlehem team, Nancy and Reem, showed Peter some new cases of needy Christians requiring our support, including the case of Diana who lives on her in the old city of Bethlehem.click image for more on this story
Over one hundred and fifty Christians, from differing traditions, came together at ‘The Friends of the Holy Land’ carol service at Lichfield Cathedral on Friday 7th December. Standing shoulder to shoulder, they prayed for peace and a greater understanding of the difficulties faced by Christians living in the Holy Land today. The non-denominational nature of the occasion was underlined by the presence of the very Revd Adrian Dorber, Dean of Lichfield, and the Rt Rev David McGough, Bishop for the RC Archdiocese of Birmingham, who jointly officiated at the service.

A cheque for £1,600 was passed to FHL Chairman Jim Quinn after December’s Lichfield carol service. This was the latest in a number of fundraising donations made by Worcestershire’s Wyre Forest group, taking their 2018 total to a hugely impressive £9,300.
