Our work Development - Vocational scholarships FHL is committed to help increase the employability of young Christians. Working in partnership with local organisations is enabling us to fund many vocational training courses. In partnership with the Episcopal Technological and Vocational Training Centre in Ramallah (West Bank), we are funding courses in Hospitality, Cooking and Information Technology. The two-year course is for young people aged 16 and above and the course fee is just over £2000 per year. FHL will sponsor 30 students with a bursary of 50% of the fees. In partnership with the Salesian Technical College, Bethlehem, FHL will fund training and courses for jobs such as electrician, solar power installation, plumber, carpentry, mechanic and graphic design. These one-year courses are also for students aged 16 and above and the course fees are just under £1000 per year. FHL will sponsor 10 students with a bursary of 50% of the course fees. And the courses have an incredible 90% employment rate amongst students. In partnership with the Salesian College-Terra Sancta School FHL has enabled the launch of a new vocational education program which has just started this academic year, for 16/17 years olds to study electricity alongside the standard Palestinian science curriculum. The course will cost around £1600 per school student. Bethlehem University has announced its willingness to accept graduates of this program to begin an undergraduate degree. FHL will be supporting four students with a 50% bursary towards course fees. We are also committed to supporting the training of future medical care professionals in the Holy Land. FHL is funding scholarships for 6 students to take part in Bethlehem University’s 4-year nursing programme. FHL intend to support the students with a 50% scholarship of the £1500 per year course fee, for the full 4 years of their course. For 25-26 academic year, we are supporting Carine, George, Yacoub, Dana, Daniel and Rozaleen. The aim of the nursing bursary is to alleviate pressure on the family in paying course fees and allow the young person the opportunity to have a guaranteed profession for life. Students are expected to remain in the Holy Land post-graduation and use their nursing degree in their local community. Evan "Thanks to FHL's help, I can continue my education and focus on learning a field that is in demand. This opportunity gives me hope for a brighter future and inspires me to keep working hard." FHL will invest £60,000 in vocational training for young people in the Holy Land. More if we receive additional funding.
