Our work Humanitarian - Emergency aid FHL offers immediate funding for people in urgent humanitarian need. In recent years since the start of the war, the fund has grown to reflect the exasperated need amongst Christian communities given the extremely high unemployment. Most have depleted any funds they had before the war. Savings have run out. More and more people are needing a helping hand to afford the basics such as food, paying the bills and healthcare. The fund has an allocated budget each month, to help Christians with covering: Utility debt Rent arrears Hospital bills Food & sustenance Regular medicine The number of other agencies able to help for emergency needs is now more limited since the withdrawal of USAID and the reduced investment of other government aid agencies. FHL continues to work with the remaining local NGOs which include Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem and Caritas in support of larger, collective initiative such as contributing to hospital operations. Our focus is on supporting individuals and families who have limited or no income. We have helped in all sorts of situations, such as in the case of accident or sudden illness, medical tests or investigations. In an already challenging every day for Christians in the Holy Land, we want to try and make everyday life that little bit easier. Sonia “The financial situation became so dire for my family that I was forced to stop taking my essential medication for six months. My health collapsed. I was overcome with a sense of hopelessness. The financial support I received from FHL wasn’t just assistance, it was a life-saving intervention.” FHL will allocate £240,000 in funding towards emergency aid in the Holy Land. More if we receive additional funding.
