A message from Brendan...

I hope you had a joyful Christmas. Let’s pray together that this new year brings new hope for our world and especially those we love.

Thank you so much for your incredible generosity towards our Christmas Appeal! Together you have raised just over £100,000 with gift aid. Many vital routine and emergency medical needs will be helped this winter and we are able to continue our projects around the Holy Land which have come under much greater pressure due to the pandemic conditions - all thanks to you. You can read about some whose lives you have changed in this newsletter.

This has only been possible with your continued help. Perhaps as we start 2022, if you have not already done so, you might consider a regular gift, no matter the size, to assure the future of these projects and thereby make a permanent change in the lives of our brothers and sisters?

Prayer is another fundamental way we can all support our most vulnerable brothers and sisters. As Lent approaches, we have not one, but two spiritual prayer resources available for your own use and in parish prayer groups.

A favourite from last year, Holy Week Voices from the Holy Land is back in our online shop

Also, we are delighted to recommend The People of the Passion by Revd Alison Askew, available from Amazon and good bookshops. To find out more, click here

Both books provide plenty of thought-provoking materials for your Lenten journey.

We wrote to you last year about the opportunity to write
or update your Will for free
and this limited offer is still open. If you are inspired to take a look at your Will, and are considering a gift in your Will to Friends of the Holy Land, thank you. To find out more, click here

As we look ahead to 2022, I pray that you will feel encouraged by the easing of Covid restrictions to rekindle activities and seek new ways to embrace our mission in the UK. We rely on supporters like you, to help spread awareness of our mission, at the grassroots, in churches around the UK and Ireland. Perhaps you can help build a bridge between your congregation and our sisters and brothers in the Holy Land. Help us share with your community, the stories of how we change the lives of the most vulnerable.

Thank you so much for your support throughout 2021. We have so much that we plan to continue and develop in 2022 that I hope you will walk alongside us and Pray, Act, Give and eventually Visit the Land of the Holy One.
Every Blessing for a fruitful 2022,

Brendan Metcalfe
Executive Director, Friends of the Holy Land
