We fund a number of employment projects, many of which complement our work in education.

Employment projects range from sponsoring work placements for young people, providing seed corn funding to assist Christian business ventures, supporting the traditional Christian industry of Olive Wood carving, and recommending Christian hotels and ground handlers to pilgrims visiting the Holy Land.

Help fund employment

Hafez, Gaza micro business beneficiaryOne initiative we fund in Gaza is to help 'micro businesses' to thrive and expand. Hafez wanted to secure funding for his 'portable kiosk', located at the Gaza seaport, selling take-away drinks. With our help he has been able to expand to serve food as well (fish and chip sandwiches!).

Other businesses we helped include a washing machine repair service expansion and a small clothing store to expand their range.

Working in partnership with the Latin Patriarchate, we also supported 19 young Iraqi Christian refugees to learn dressmaking skills. Refugees often leave their homeland convinced they will return. They use their life savings to make the journey but find themselves unable to return and no longer have the resources or credentials to build a secure future for their families.

In addition to supporting current employment initiatives, skills development such as this improves employment opportunities when they eventually relocate, assisting refugees to prepare for a new life.
